[Saturday Online Workshop] Intro to Gendlin Focusing - A Practical Tool For Inner Clarity
+ Agile Dating Reflections + Learning Linocut
Hi friends,
Thanks to everyone who reached out to share your thoughts and stories inspired by my last post Agile Dating: A Less Painful Way to Date! I’m glad that the approach has resonated so much. I love that you’ve been sharing it with your friends and partners. Receiving kind notes like these really make my day!
It’s clear that many of us want more ease and flow in our relationships. Isn’t it great to make honest communication and growth a normal routine thing?
I had the opportunity to present two Agile Dating/Relationship workshops - one with the Awaking Octopus community and another at the Festival of Ideas (hosted at 1RG). It was lovely having deep conversations with everyone who joined. I hope to host more of these in the near future.
Stay tuned - I’m working on follow-up posts on how Agile Dating applies to long-term relationships and friendships, plus other layers I wasn’t able to include in the last one.
Several people suggested that I create an Agile Dating/Relationship course. If there’s enough interest, I’ll definitely consider it. Let me know in the comments if this is something you’d like to see.
In the meantime, you might like these other posts I’ve written about relationships:
Garden of Sacred Solitude - My reflections in the midst of a long period of singledom, realizing the importance of belonging to Self before belonging to a partnership. I include a quote from Rilke that transformed my view about marriage.
How To Grow A Thriving Garden of Relationships - Are your relationships nourishing or draining you?
Intro to Gendlin Focusing - Free online workshop
Ashley Good and I have taught the Intro to Gendlin Focusing Workshop twice now and are glad that participants have found it very helpful. For those who’ve read my book Finding Your Authentic Self, Gendlin Focusing is one of the daily self-connection practices that I highly recommend. I believe that it’s a fundamental skill that everyone should be equipped with. I’m excited to teach it again as part of the Exploratory Practice Series hosted by Intentional Society. Good news for those who weren’t able to attend previously!
When: Saturday June 22, 4:00-5:30 pm EST
Where: Online (Register below for Zoom link)

Workshop description:
Many of us are drifting through the world as floating heads. Gendlin Focusing is a simple yet powerful technique to help us reconnect with the wisdom within our bodies - teaching us how to uncover emotions and yearnings that are often hidden or repressed.
Focusing has been a life-changing tool for me, my partner, and my coaching clients - helping us connect with our higher Self, repair relationships, understand our true needs, and heal unhealthy patterns. I hope to help more people learn Focusing to experience the benefits themselves.
In this workshop, I will share the basics of Focusing, give a demo, and offer space for you to practice it with support.
The workshop will be based on the book "The Power of Focusing" by Anne Weiser Cornell, PhD. Feel free to read it ahead of time if you're keen, but this is not required. Here's more info about Gendlin Focusing from the International Focusing Institute
Creative Inspiration - Learning Linocut
Linocut art is a delightful cross between sculpting, drawing, and printing. I’m grateful to my friend Kate for teaching me how to do it. The lino block had the texture of a soft eraser, and carving into it was oh-so-satisfying. I love the unexpected textures that were revealed only after ink was rolled on.
If you have questions about Agile Dating or any other topic I’ve written about, feel free to post in the comments or join an upcoming community call. I also offer coaching to individuals and couples who’d like the support (more info).
My new book: Finding Your Authentic Self: An Illustrated Journey to Well-being
A philosophical picture book for adults. A gentle guide for a more radiant existence.
Thank you to everyone who’s ordered a copy and left a review. Your support means a lot to me and helps the book reach even more people.
